Get ready for a shock!

Get ready for a shock!

Get ready for a shock! is a national educational and informational program under the patronage of the Polish Society of Allergology on anaphylaxis. The goal of the program is to educate people about anaphylaxis, and the consequences and rules of conduct during the onset of anaphylactic shock (which may even cause death).

The program is a response to the low level of awareness of such issues, and is intended to help people quickly and correctly identify the symptoms of anaphylaxis and deal appropriately with people in anaphylactic shock. To this end, practical workshops on first aid were organized (open workshops at various events and closed workshops for journalists, doctors, beekeepers, public transportation employees and uniformed services), lectures were delivered and articles published in the specialized press. As part of the program, guidelines and simple algorithms on how to behave in cases of anaphylaxis were developed for doctors (and patients) – the first such in Poland. There was a series of Educational Weeks on Anaphylaxis – free allergological consultations for patients, who were provided with full information on the subject. In 2016, a report on anaphylaxis in Poland was also prepared.
The program has been recognised by independent experts, which is evidenced by the following awards: a Golden Paperclip (Złoty Spinacz) 2015 in the Health and Medicine category, a Golden Stevie Award, and a distinction in the Social Campaign of the Year 2014 competition.
